Stará hora, Žižkov. Sand. Grüner Veltliner.
In the past, people would donate their land to the church at the end of their lives, trying to “buy” their place in heaven – which is exactly how this particular small vineyard in Žižkov once belonged to the local parish. I’m always a sucker for vineyard histories, so when the plot became ours, we wanted a name that reflects its story, all while symbolising the wine’s confident femininity. Because this beautiful old-vine Veltliner is very different from its bolder WTB brother – think elegant, sharp, and complex, disarmingly charming yet guarding her secrets.
Enter Vesper: the magic (prayer) time between light and dark, when people gather to express their gratitude for the day, the evening star, Bond's only true love, a heroine with unique poise and depth.
What made this vineyard site just as irresistible? Windy with well-drained sandy subsoil, it exposes the vines to positive stress. Planted in 1980 with a very diverse, old selection of Veltlín clones, it yields both small-berried, quick-ripening grapes and those with a 'greener' character and good acidity. An optimal mix for a wine that is ethereal, direct and linear at the same time. Does she have the licence to kill? Maybe not, but I wouldn’t mess with her anyway…

The White Labels are our top-shelf wines, the pinnacle of our work. Hailing from our most interesting micro-locations, oldest vines, and often field blends. This unique energy is preserved by the gentlest treatment and several years of undisturbed ageing in Stockinger foudres in our cellar. Minimal interventions, maximum genius loci.
These wines speak about our quest for elegance in all our imperfections. Purism inside and out. Pouring in our hearts as well as all our long-term work and know-how, something I'm proud of. All that is reflected on the labels. When working on them, we took out elements that weren’t essential until only my signature and the name of the wine remained. Because, as they say, perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
