Spodní, Žižkov. Calcareous loess. Blaufränkisch.
Thanks to its valley location, this site is well protected and basks in the southern sun. The genetics in this vineyard are very diverse, with many plants changing color very slowly—some grapes still blue while others are smaller, darker, and looser.
This combination results in quite low yields (below 20hl/ha) and a silky Blaufränkisch with quite Pinot-like character. How different from JIL, our other signature Blaufrankisch from a nearby slope, that's all depth and darkness compared to this dainty one!
Another curious detail: historically, this land was farmed by people from neighbouring Prušánky, a village full of redheads. (idk why, just a #funfact.)
The name Kitsune captures all of this. I love how Japanese folklore regards foxes as intelligent, magical creatures that can shapeshift—tricksters that can be either benevolent guardians or mischievous troublemakers, gaining even more power as they grow old.
Just like this wine: silky, well-structured, elegant, and disarming already when young, with its character unfurling and becoming even more delicate, poetic, and seductive with age.

The White Labels are our top-shelf wines, the pinnacle of our work. Hailing from our most interesting micro-locations, oldest vines, and often field blends. This unique energy is preserved by the gentlest treatment and several years of undisturbed ageing in our cellar. Minimal interventions, maximum genius loci.
These wines speak about our quest for elegance in all our imperfections. Purism inside and out. Pouring in our hearts as well as all our long-term work and know-how, something I'm proud of. All that is reflected on the labels. When working on them, we took out elements that weren’t essential until only my signature and the name of the wine remained. Because, as they say, perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
